THE LONDON SKYLINE AUTOPORTRAIT
First use of the word 'Photography' was at Somerset House, London (foreground).
A self portrait Elliott created at the top of one of his favourite haunts, a London rooftop bar. To the extreme left you can just make out Tower Bridge and of course The Shard. The purple building in the foreground is Somerset House, where Sir John Herschel first used the word 'photography' in a paper of 1839, which was read to the Royal Society. The word itself was created from two Greek words meaning 'to draw with light'. Breath-taking view of London and of course, its pioneering artist photographer.
